GIS Technician

SIRO is a joint venture company, established in 2015 by ESB and Vodafone that aims to connect 450,000 premises across regional Ireland with 100% fibre-to-the-building (FTTP) broadband with speeds of up to 1000Mbps, future proofing homes and businesses connectivity by delivering the highest possible quality service and speeds.

We currently have a vacancy for a GIS Technician to work within our GIS team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage quarterly updates of OSi Mapping, GeoDirectory and GNI in SIRO GIS.
  • Create and run reports and validations via FME, Oracle, GeoMedia, G/Technology FOW and ArcGIS.
  • Synchronisation processes of SIRO GIS data to OSS and BSS systems.
  • Manage user access to various GIS/IT resources.
  • Provide GIS support and training to internal (SIRO) and external GIS users (design & build contractors).
  • Liaise closely with design & build contractors to ensure that they meet the SIRO GIS requirements.
  • Continuous improvement and development of SIRO processes and the SIRO GIS.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • 3rd level degree in GIS, science, engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in GIS, preferably in the Telecoms Industry.
  • Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems – Intergraph (GeoMedia and G/Technology Fibre Optic Works), ArcGIS, QGIS, Google Earth.
  • Working knowledge of FME, OSi Mapping and GeoDirectory.
  • Competent with Oracle SQL and writing SQL scripts.
  • Good understanding and use of relational databases and running database queries from SQL developer or similar tools.
  • Good understanding of a telco fibre network (FTTH/FTTB).
  • Self-starter, works well under pressure, able to deliver to deadlines.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Full drivers’ licence.

Service Operations Executive

SIRO is a wholesale broadband provider, with 16 retailers selling our services. This role will primarily focus on management of inbound customer related queries and non-standard orders placed across the 27 SIRO Points of Interconnect (POIs) across the country. A driven individual who has a good attitude to their work will thrive in this environment.

SIRO Service Operations are responsible for delivering an in-home service which allows our retail partners to connect the end customer to the internet. This has key responsibility for delivering and improving Customer Experience through the day to day management of the Service Operations activities.

Key Objectives / Accountabilities:

  • Providing Tier 1 support in a friendly, customer oriented manner
  • Understanding customers’ needs and troubleshooting their issues in a clear, concise manner
  • Logging, tracking, prioritising and ownership of all reported issues, ensuring the accuracy of the information captured and the resolution of the issue to the customers satisfaction
  • Responsible for timely follow-up on outstanding issues and escalating issues when required
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Excel, pivot tables, clashing multiple data sources to find insights
  • Identify common problems, developing and applying solutions consistently
  • Working with other SIRO and supplier teams to triage and resolve outstanding issues
  • Ensuring Customer Experience is front and centre of every interaction

Project Manager

The successful candidate will be part of the Programme Team tasked with managing the roll-out. The Programme Team will work with both internal and external stakeholders to agree the scope of work, and from their will ensure that all key milestones are met on time to scope and budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects
  • Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Ensure resource availability and allocation
  • Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Report and escalate to management as needed
  • Successfully manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Educational background preferably in the fields of computer science or engineering
  • Proven working experience in project management in the information technology sector
  • Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in software development and web technologies
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • PMP / PRINCE II certification is a plus

Telecommunications & Data Networks Technician Apprenticeship

Reporting to our Town Completion Manager, within the Infrastructure department this apprenticeship is a great opportunity to start or develop your career within an exciting and dynamic company within the Telecoms industry.

Apprenticeship training provides alternating on-the-job training in conjunction with off-the-job training in Education and Training Boards and selected higher education institutions. The position is a two-year contract fixed full time contract, including the off-the-job release to attend the off-the-job sessions at TU Dublin to complete a Higher Certificate in Engineering in Telecommunications and Data Network Engineering. Over the lifetime of the apprenticeship a total of eight blocks, each of two weeks duration, will be spent attending class and practical laboratories at TU Dublin.

Requirements:

  • Applicant must hold a Leaving Certificate with a minimum of Grade O6/H7 or better in 5 subjects in the Leaving Certificate including English or Irish and Mathematics. A Pass in Foundation Level Irish (F3) is acceptable for this course. Alternatively, an applicant can hold a level of qualification which is deemed equivalent to the requirements in the Leaving Certificate.
  • Full Irish driving licence an advantage, but not essential. 12 EDT driving lessons will be covered by SIRO if required.
  • Applicant must complete a colour vision test
